This is my most ambitious work to date and I’m pretty pleased with results. The shape of the face on the left is too wide and rounded. Which is obvious now but I only saw it once I had finished drawing. It is amazing what your brain doesn’t see when you are focused on the details.
The hair in the right also went awry though mostly down to my inability to get a consistent dark tone across a large area. This something I need to practice for these larger drawings.
Other than the big picture, today was a pretty standard day of life poses.
Not my best work but that is the purpose of a warm-up.
It took three pages of gradually improving drawings before I felt confident enough to tackle a big image.
A combination of bad weather and a need to call into Saintsbury’s in the way home made Costa in Beeston the obvious choice of venue today.
