It’s my life drawing class later so I’m in town for a shortish session before hand. Today’s its drawing exercises and hands. #learningtodraw

Having to shuffle my seat so I can draw on the left page due to inconvenient pillar. One of the drawbacks of a landscape pad #learningtodraw

Focusing on gesture drawings of the same pose working on a good, fast technique. #learningtodraw

Some fairly naff poses, trying to get proportions right on a overly muscled model. #learningtodraw

Three quickish life poses focusing on outlining the body and then layering the clothes on top. #learningtodraw

Various 1, 5, 10 and 20 minute poses from tonight’s @LifeDrawNottm class. #learningtodraw

How’s your day going Chris? Well, it’s 4pm and I’m just sitting down to do what I planned to do at 9am. #learningtodraw

Three versions of the same pose. #learningtodraw

All of today’s #learningtodraw. Limited quantity due a short session. More tomorrow.

It’s drizzling, cold and I slept really badly but I have made it out, got coffee and I have a new sketchbook. #learningtodraw

My new sketchook is in landscape format which is a new experience. Need to use the page differently. #learningtodraw

Repeating a pose working on form and techniques. The new sketchbook is lovely, better feel of paper and a whiter colour. #learningtodraw

Sketches from reference photos. No particular purpose other than practice. #learningtodraw

All of today’s output. Having a landscape sketchbook does a challenge for these round up shoots. #learningtodraw

Trying a bit of copperplate calligraphy with my warm-up page. It’s quite tricky. #learningtodraw

Struggling with the flat pencil approach, trying to get a more expressive style by doing the same pose repeatedly. #learningtodraw

A couple of studies looking at planes and forms. #learningtodraw

Some not bad shading and proportions. Not good but not bad either. #learningtodraw

More playing with form. This one based on a very some superhero poses (Sue Storm I think) but shading my own. #learningtodraw

A day of poses and experiments. Some good, some not so good. #learningtodraw

Apparently it is 4 degrees outside but it felt much colder walking here to Costa. Now warming up physically and mentally. #learningtodraw

Very quick life poses using a flat pencil technique. It’s bloody hard. The way you hold and move the pencil feels unnatural. #learningtodraw

I’m discovering you need to think about the drawing process differently with this technique. More expressive, less exact. #learningtodraw

A couple of more detailed life poses. #learningtodraw

The most annoying things about #learningtodraw is that there are no shortcuts and those techniques for building form methodically work.

A couple of faces with lots of work on planes and form and then blended to hell with a napkin. #learningtodraw

Couple of quick doodles straight from my head. #learningtodraw

Everything from today’s #learningtodraw. Some bad, some not so bad.

A grey, miserable day and rather than push it with cycling again, I’ve opted for the local Costa. #learningtodraw

Slowly going this morning thanks to a group of mums with their (literally) screaming kids on the next table. #learningtodraw

More life poses because my brain is struggling with anything requiring thought. #learningtodraw

A couple of faces to finish off. #learningtodraw

That’s it for today. Nothing special but I turned up and did it which is a win. #learningtodraw

Made it out on my bike for the first time this year. Still not 100% healthy but the ride hasn’t killed me. #learningtodraw

My technique has improved massively but my drawings are still missing that ‘zing’. Need to practice ‘art’ not just drawing. #learningtodraw

Experiments in style band technique. #learningtodraw

Initial pencils for today’s soluble graphite piece. #learningtodraw

First wash applied and second pencils awaiting their wash. #learningtodraw

Still struggling with a cough / cold on this damp and misty morning and my brain is struggling. #learningtodraw

My lack of brain means there is no plan to today’s work. Just going wherever the pencil goes. #learningtodraw

More life poses because that’s all my brain can cope with today. #learningtodraw

Faces from photos. #learningtodraw

Random doodles. No, I don’t know what they are. #learningtodraw

People, faces and random crap from my brain. That’s today’s #learningtodraw

Various one, five, ten and twenty min poses from last night’s life drawing with @LifeDrawNottm #learningtodraw

Warning up on a cold, cold morning. #learningtodraw

I always suffer a ‘hangover’ from a good life drawing class. Next day I can’t get back in the zone and everything is stilted #learningtodraw

A couple of faces. #learningtodraw

Initial pencils for this morning’s soluble graphite sketch. #learningtodraw

I tried this image because of all the folds. Turns out (unsurprisingly) I need to put a lot more effort in to get them right #learningtodraw

Three quick animals using my new @DalerRowney paint markers. I’ve filled them with pen ink for now and like using them. #learningtodraw

That’s everything for today’s #learningtodraw session. Now for lunch and some proper work.
