A sad event, in memory of Brianna Ghey who was brutally murdered. It was an event that touched the trans community deeply with all of them thinking “that could of been me”.
I covered the event for Open Nottingham and the it was a challenging situation for photography, partly due to the poor lighting in the area. However, it was the nature of the event which made life difficult. At a normal protest I am comfortable with pushing my way through a crowd to get the shot but this was more like a funeral and it would have been deeply inappropriate to impose on another community’s grief.
